Bark Butter |

This is a favourite recipe with woodpeckers as well as chickadees and nuthatches. |

Ingredients: |

|
2 cups of lard (softened)
2 cups of peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
4 cups cornmeal
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups unsalted sunflower seeds OR bird sees
1 tsp honey

Method: |
|
In a large bowl, mix together the lard and peanut butter.
Add the remaining ingredients, a few at a time stirring each in before adding the next.
Stir thoroughly and place in container and let it set at room temperature.
Spread portions on tree bark with a butter knife.
Store in covered container at room temperature. |
