Gadwall, Anas strepera
The Gadwall is a duck about the same size as a Mallard. The male (shown) is not as flashy as many other male ducks are. The male is gray-brown with a black patch at the tail, sandy brown head, and white patches on the back edge of the wing. It is a dabbling duck and feeds by tipping forward with its tail sticking up.
