Northern Bedstraw, Galium boreale
Northern Bedstraw, Galium boreale
Northern Bedstraw grows in wet places, open woods and meadows. It is a relation to coffee and some people will dry and roast the seeds as a coffee substitute. In June and July produces relatively small white flowers which grow in clusters. This is a leafy perennial which can grow 12-31 in/30-80 cm tall. Pioneers used to use this plant as a tea and also for stuffing their mattresses.
