Stink Bug, Chlorochroa ligata
Around the world there are over 5,000 species of Stink Bugs. They belong to the family Pentatomidae. The "penta" part of the name refers to the five segments of the antennae, or possibly to the fact that their bodies look like they are divided into five parts. When disturbed, they produce a strong smelling fluid which explains their common name. Stink Bugs are sometimes called shield bugs because of their shield-like shape.
