December 2008 - Long-horned Beetle Hybodera tuberculata
|
Hybodera tuberculata
Hybodera tuberculata

This month's unusual insect is a rarity and as such has no common name. It's believed to be a member of the beetle family Cerambycidae - the long-horned beetles - and most probably restricted in Canada to British Columbia and ranges down the Pacific Coast of the US.

Hybodera tuberculata
With its unusual legs and body patterns and extremely long antennae we thought is was a valuable addition to our photographic collection of insects.
