Queen Carpenter Ant, Camponotus vicinus
The Carpenter Ant is a common species found in the Pacific Northwest with a range that extends east to Alberta and Colorado. As their name suggests, Carpenter Ants enjoy munching on wood, although they don't actually eat it. This can cause damage to wooden structures, especially if the wood is moist.
