Wooden Berry Feeder
|
This simple double berry feeder can be made with very few woodworking skills and a minimum amount of materials and effort.
The result is an interesting feeder from which you can hang a few bunches of berries for berry-loving birds.
|
Wooden Berry Feeder
All you'll need for this feeder are two pieces of 1" x 6" cedar and a small dowel. Cut one pieces of cedar 7" long for the upright. Cut the other one 12" long. That will be the base. If you'd like to improve the appearance, cut off the corners of the base.
|
Up right piece with angles cut
pointed dowel in the wood.
Cut angles in the top of the upright piece. Drill a hole for the dowel about 3 inches from the top.

Attach the base to the upright piece using 2-inch nails or screws.
|
Berries are attached to the dowel
Push the dowel through the hole. Using twist ties, attach bunches of berries. These berries were collected from a Mountain Ash tree in the autumn and stored in the freezer.
|
Shower curtain hook
Shower curtain hook can be used as a hanger
To create a hanger, use a curtain or shower hook. A small screw eye is screwed into the top, and then the hook is attached. You can then hang the feeder from a branch or a hook on your feeding station.
|
Roof is attached and hook screwed in
And there you have it! A simple, attractive wooden berry feeder just waiting for some guests to drop by.
