Robber Flies belong to a huge family of insects called Asilidae, which is part of the order Diptera. There are several thousands of species of Robber Flies around the world. They are characterized by their sharp, strong mouth parts which come in handy as Robber Flies are powerful predators, feeding on a variety of other insects which they capture by hiding and waiting in ambush.
