Mayfly, Paraleptophlebia sp.
The life span of the Mayfly is very short - sometimes just a few hours, long enough to mate and reproduce. The female lays her eggs in water. Adults are characterized by their large wings which are held upright when at rest. They also have two or three thread-like long, tails. There are over 600 species of Mayflies in North America alone.
