Blue Dasher, Pachydiplax longipennis (male)
The Blue Dasher is a common dragonfly found throughout North America. You will usually find a Blue Dasher by a marsh, pond, slow moving river or a swamp where it hunts for insects. It is about 1-1 3/4 in/26-45 mm long with a wing span of 2 1/8-3 1/2 in/55-89 mm. Males will often chase each other, defending their territory.
