The Empress Leilia Butterfly is a member of the Brushfoots (Nymphalidae) family of butterflies. It is found in the southern Arizona east to south Texas and south to Mexico. The wings are brownish-orange and have black and white spots. Adults feed on fruit, sap and dung and occasionally on nectar. Males like to spend most of the hours of the day perched near a food source waiting for females to pass by.
