Small Magpie Moth
Eurrhypara hortulata
The small magpie moth is 2.5 cm (1 inch) in length. The larva feeds from a rolled or spun leaf in August and September before hibernating in a tough silk cocoon in a hollow stem or under bark. The main food plant is the common nettle.
