American Pipit, Anthus rubescens
The American Pipit is a small sparrow-like songbird. Pipits like they open country where they forage on the ground for insects and seeds using their long bills. They also nest on the ground. The American Pipit breeds in the higher elevations of the Rocky Mountains or the tundra, migrating to lower latitudes and elevations after breeding season.
