Asters are members of the Sunflower Family (Asteraceae). The Bigelow's Aster starts to grow in early summer and reaches its full splendor in the autumn. The plant grows to over 2 feet tall (.6m), with a strong central stem, small slender leaves but with lots of attention grabbing stunning flowers. Watch for them when you're travelling along the roads of Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.
