April 2010 - Spring Gold

Spring Gold, Lomatium utriculatum

Spring Gold is a member of the Apiaceae or carrot family of plants and resident of the west coast of North America. It grows up to 60 cm/23 in tall, prefering dry slopes and bluffs. Its small bright-yellow flowers grow in a cluster of up to 15 heads.
