Misumenops Celer
Misumenops Celer is a crab spider which can blend in exteremly well with the flower it choses as its habitat.
Notice the matching shades of colour in this photograph.

Lynx Spider   Lynx Spider with its prey
Lynx Spiders, Oxyopes scalaris shown above, are hunters and they spend their lives on plants. They are very nimble runners and jumpers, relying on their keen eyesight to hunt their prey which they chase or ambush.

Although spiders in the house are considered as friends, taking care of unwanted guests, so to speak.

In the garden though, they don't always just take care of the these pests.

Eris militaris
Jumping spiders stawk their prey and then, as the name suggests, jump onto the unsuspecting victim. There are many spiders which belong in this group.
The one here is probably Eris militaris.

Thereare several black and white Jumping Spiders,
including this one, Marpissa Formosa.

Other garden jumpers have many fancy desing and colours. Two of these neatly-designed spiders are shown here, Phidippus borealis.

Many of the pollinators that we need are caught by the various methods that spiders use to secure a meal. Honey bees and bumble bees succumb to these crafty predators.
