| November 2007 - Twinflower |
| |
 |
| Linnaea borealis |
| The Twinflower was a favourite of Swedish Botanist, Carl Linnaeus who developed the scientific system of classifying plants and animals that we use today. |
 |
Preferring cool temperate forests, you'll find Twinflowers in the northern regions of the world. In Europe they extend down to the Alps; in Asia to northern Japan and in North America to Northern California in the west and Tennessee in the east.
Its pinkish-white funnel-shaped flowers hang in pairs (like twins) from the top of a Y-shaped stem.
The Twinflower is the Linnaeus' home province Smaland, Sweden. |
